ABSTRACT
ExxonMobil Chemical recently commercialized a family of novel polyolefin-based specialty elastomers, developed using its proprietary solution polymerization reactor & metallocene catalyst technology, under the trade name Vistamaxx TM. These specialty elastomers offer an excellent balance of softness, toughness, elasticity, and, additionally, offer easy processing in most conventional thermoplastic processing equipment. Their broad range of properties offer a novel polyolefinic solution for applications currently using SEBS, polyurethanes, and other elastomers. These new to the world polymers offer the promise of allowing converters to devise new, innovative and cost-effective solutions to various applications. The nonwoven fabrics produced from this new family of polyolefin resins have excellent elastic properties with minimal permanent set. The elastic nonwoven fabrics produced from Vistamaxx can be used in many consumer and industrial products due to its unique elastic properties, softness and low permanent set. The presentation will highlight the benefit of these specialty elastomers in a wide variety of applications in elastic film and nonwoven applications.
